    About Dena Marie Weiss

    Dr. Dena Weiss is currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice within the School of Security and Global Studies (SSGC) with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement.  She began her career as a microanalyst and serologist with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and remains active in local law enforcement as a crime scene investigator and fingerprint examiner.  She has provided expert testimony for both the prosecution and defense in the state of Florida as well as the federal court system. Dr. Weiss has been teaching and developing curriculum online for 15 years. Her work has been published in professional magazines and peer-reviewed journals. She is also a reviewer for Sage Publications, Inc. and Pearson Education.  Dr. Weiss is a member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), the Florida Division of the International Association for Identification (FDIAI), and  the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS).  Dr Weiss is also a Medical Investigator for the Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System (FEMORS). Her duties include identifying fingerprints of the deceased in the event of a mass fatality incident within the state of Florida.
